INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup textured soy protein (TVP)
- ½ cup water
- 4 Tbsp olive oil
Sauce:
- 220g tomato purée
- 1 ½ Tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 ½ tsp arrowroot powder
- 2 ½ Tbs brown sugar
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 large onion
- 1 large tomato
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper powder
DIRECTIONS
- Add water and TVP into a bowl and let it soak for 5 minutes.
- Put all sauce ingredients into a separate bowl and stir until combined. Add the soaked textured soy protein into the sauce and let it sit for another 5 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a pan on medium heat. Pour sauce and TVP into pan and let it simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to gently bubble with heat.
- Serve immediately over pasta of choice.
